  Four stars for ambiance. Love the Cali outdoor vibe... it was converted from a 1950's gas station. Great, breezy concrete-floor bar which must have been the mechanic shop of the gas station - really fun and the bartender made a 4-star old-fashioned. The outdoor dining scene is perfectly lit at night, great scene, gravel, palm trees, in-tree lighting, perfectly dim for dating and dinner w friends. Very Los Angeles, and I'm a native.
  
  1-gaggy star for the Rajas unfortunately. So bad. Dry, hard, flavorless, couldn't really choke em down. Please avoid if you love tender, stewed, spicy, creamy Rajas. Great guacamole, chips and their wicked dark salsa are fantastic. Have a fun night at Salazar. It's bumpin ~

  Weak! Another over rated LA spot....
  Menu was limited and expensive. The lighting was so bad I couldn't even see the table.
  $15 for chips and guacamole!  F-off!!

  Tried Salazar for the first time tonight following numerous recommendations. Our waitress was great, food was EXCELLENT, so good I even forgave them for adding red onion to the guacamole. Beans with pork belly & el pastor tacos were particularly good!
  
  Sadly while we were waiting to pay I took my kids down to the gravel by the entrance and had a very rude member of staff accuse them of kicking stones at people when I said that they weren't kicking stones I was told very loudly that it wasn't a playground. Only one party had come into the restaurant while we were in that area and I'd made sure the kids made way for them. Spoiled what would have been a lovely evening. Since the restaurant was full of kids when we arrived I would think they'd make an effort to be nice to parents, obviously not!

  Yes, they finely chopped the sweet onions, crunchy, refreshing, not messy and doesn't left a strong odors behind; very in depth flavors in their carne asada which I may come back for. Interesting flour tortilla which they slightly toast and reminds me of scallions pancakes.  
  
  It is the pricy menu that pulled me back a little bit, needed to spend a few more minutes to decide what to order.
  
  I am very surprised their tacos are very filling especially they don't over pour the chicken, beef or pork; it is the thick flour tortilla does the trick as I am still stuffed right now at 5pm in the afternoon writing this review.
  
  And ahh, they no longer put a capuline on their coconut favorited grainless horchata. Oh well.
  
  It wasn't busy even when I left around 11:30am Saturday morning. As I was collapsing my camera tripod near their bike stands; about to walk out of the restaurant;  I heard the hostess saying "oh finally, don't come back please."  I wanted to  turn around to find out if she was talking about me. But hey, I am not coming back anyway; why bordered? May be she is talking about other customers.

  On a whim, we came here after attending a soft open more than 4 years ago.  This restaurant serves up the most authentic Mexican food I've had  with a beautiful display of color, with flowers and spices.  Corn tortillas make the tacos my favorite, as the tortillas are hand-made and served up with heaping amounts of carne asado, or try their vegetable tacos which literally drip with flavor down your arms.  Drinks are reasonably priced and offer a world colored in mescal, tequila, rum and gin used to make tropical drinks both slushie stype and traditional bar style.  Something to be aware of is that the dining area is totally outside, so check outside before thinking about a brunch or dinner break.  Also, no reservations are taken, so no phone numbers are had.  Just e-mail your request of 8 or more, so they can set up the patio for the larger party.
